In July 2011, Unit Forgings was rewarded for their efforts with the prestigious Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP) Bronze Award. The SQEP Bronze Award is presented to a select group of suppliers who meet Caterpillar's rigorous Quality Management System (QMS) criteria. Only a small number of Caterpillar suppliers have attained this award.

To be considered for the award, a supplier must (1) identify specific responsibilities, (2) provide clear procedures and processes, and (3) provide appropriate resources to assure the facilities products will satisfy customer expectations and achieve established quality goals and objectives. Maintaining high levels of quality and on-time delivery are key criteria for the award.

There are a number of specific internal programs that award-winning suppliers must develop and maintain. These programs deal with such critical issues as document and record control, management review, personnel and training, product conformance, statistical process control, corrective and preventative action, and new product introduction.

In receiving the award at a presentation at Unit Forgings, Company President and General Manager praised his team's efforts.
